Birkenstock Trend: Like or Dislike - That is the Question

Oftentimes, fashion deals us a hard hand. Like how crop tops have been trendy for some time now, leaving those of us without six-pack abs less than enthused. But from time to time, the style gods smile down on us and give us something that not only works on everyone, but is also comfortable and extremely practical.

Enter Birkenstocks. Yes, I'm talking about the shoes you used to wear to walk the dog. They're back and more appealing than ever. I'll admit I NEVER thought that I would purchase a pair, but as I've been seeing some of my favorite bloggers rock them, I'm on the verge of taking the plunge.  So the question is - Think you can pull it off? Thoughts on Birkenstocks -- yay or cray? On the fence? Let's see if I can help...

While I really like some of the Birkenstock-inspired sandals above, I think I am going to take the plunge and go with the real deal. I've been looking for a comfortable shoe to walk around the city in, and while these are in style - I might as well jump on the bandwagon, right?

I really like the criss-crossed pair, but I think I may go with the pair that looks more like a thong, but to make Birkenstocks and Birkenstock-inspired sandals work, it takes some styling. Meaning, you can't pair Birks with bootcut jeans and tie-dye shirts without looking like you're stuck in another decade. So below is a helpful video for how to style your Birkenstocks - check it out!
So what's your vote? Are you in? Or are you out?
