{Welcome to six eighty eight}

Welcome to six eighty eight {formerly known as FLOURISH}!

Over the last year or so, I have been brainstorming new names that I not only wanted for my blog, but more importantly my overall brand. I wanted something that was personal – not a name that someone else was using and may confuse their blog for mine {or vice versa} – not a name that I found on a napkin at a fabulous hotel in Los Angeles {which is where I came up with FLOURISH} – but a name that had meaning and truly defined not only who I am, but where I came from.

How did I come up with six eighty eight, you ask? ‘688’ was the address number of my childhood home. It’s a place that I have the fondest memories. It was in that house that I started my passion for art and design, as at a very young age I knew exactly what I wanted to do with my life. I loved decorating my room, and would redecorate it all the time to switch up the look. My friend Steven and I would build forts and dollhouses for my Barbies out of old wood that either his dad or mine had lying around. I remember building a wall shelf to showcase all of the figurines that I collected {and yes there were unicorns}. My friend Felicia and I would paint and draw on rocks and trade them every time we saw each other, along with special notes that only she and I could read because we had our on decoding system {man I wish I still had those}. There was a huge tree in the backyard that I would climb up high {with chalk in my pockets} and color the bark and branches {as walls and the side of the house were off limit}. I could go on and on with the memories, but as I was brainstorming names for my brand, I thought of where my inspiration early in life began. The moment I thought of my childhood home, I knew my new name would be six eighty eight.

My short-to-long term goal for six eighty eight {in addition to being my creative outlet} is to continue to provide you with daily inspiration and help encourage you to trust your own style via my blog. My long-term goal, is for six eighty eight to be a brand. I plan to restart my jewelry line, start an accessory line with my sister, and one day open retail shop – and yep you guessed it all will be named six eighty eight.

I am so excited about six eighty eight and all of the possibilities that are awaiting. I have truly enjoyed my journey over the last few years and love that I get to continue to interact with all of you on a daily basis. Thank you for your continued support – and look forward to new and fresh daily inspiration. The long haul required for blogging can only be driven by passion. When you're motivated by passion, you have an inner desire and inexplicable need to express your inner voice.
