The fact that the size of my current bedroom is smaller than the closet I had when I lived in North Carolina makes me cringe. While the trade off is totally worth it - I'm still having a problem with the storage space in my closet. For me, it's out of sight, out of mind when it comes to the items I have literally stuffed in my current space. I have some fabulous shoes that I've forgotten about, I have a ton of scarves but usually stick to one or two, I have clothes that I don't remember buying - why? Because I can't see them. I don't love digging through piles of clothes, pulling out boxes and boxes of shoes, sifting through bags of scarves - so I need to do something about. Below is a picture of my current closet space {I know, I know - I can hear the gasps} along with a few ideas for how I can increase the storage and make everything more visible:
What do you think?
Can you utilize the back of the door at all? Those over-the-door things aren't great looking but they hold a TON. What about another shelf or two above the door to the room (obviously for off-season clothes/purses/etc. or to display your beautiful, but not-in-season shoes)?
