I discovered the work of Metamorph by Sonya Coulson Rook of Raleigh, NC, a couple of years ago at the Handmade Market. As she mentions in her artist statement, she has always been fascinated by the visual changes objects undergo during the process of aging or decomposition. In her work, she is interested in exploring the relationship between organic and industrial objects, and the contrast between clean simple surfaces and heavily textured surfaces. She often incorporates various found objects and materials in her work in an effort to give a newly created object a sense of history. Her Etsy shop is full of unique and inspired pieces.  Please visit her lovely blog or her website for more!
