I consider myself a pretty crafty and creative person, but for some reason I can not get the whole knitting thing down. My mom ever so patiently tried to teach me, and while knitting is supposed to be all in the wrists, for some reason I've got this whole arm flapping action going on and after just a few minutes, I get frustrated and my crafty pride is put to shame. Anyway - I LOVE....as in LOVE this knit blanket shown below and am willing to pay someone to make it for me. Name your price! I will purchase the supplies and pay you for your time, I just need someone with some sweet knitting skills {no arm flapping allowed}.
Click here for instructions {and I'm so serious about commissioning someone to make this for me - spread the word}
Love the blanket too!!!! AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteAlso, just wanted to say how much I love your blog.
For Lent, I have decided to NOT give up anything but to change my life by learning something new everyday....and your blog just might help me do that. THANKS!
Awwww - thank you so much!! I love your Lent commitment. I too didn't give up anything, but instead decided to be committed to tracking my food intake daily (which is certainly something I don't enjoy doing) - so far so good, but we're only on day 2, lol! Thanks again for commenting, I really appreciate it!
DeleteThe blanket is awesome--might have to be courageous and attempt making one for myself. But I'm pretty sure that you won't love my "crazy looking version/attempt" as much as I will. Good luck on your search.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try and sweet talk my mom - but I'm thinking it may be a couple of years before she actually gets it to me. Man - I wish Martha Stewart would just sell it!
Deletethat blanket is amazing! pinterest has made me start to envy quilters and knitters too! my mom is an amazing knitter, but is currently being commissioned by my sister to quilt baby blankets for her upcoming twins!
ReplyDeletegood luck on your quest!
xx
Twins - how fun!!! Are they the first grand-babies in the family?
Deleteyep first grand babies! and i'm going to be an aunt for the first time :)
DeleteI asked my mom if she could fit it in, and she (being the expert that she is), said it was way easy and that it would take no time at all!
You just let me know when she's ready!!! :-)
DeleteWhat a fantastic blanket!! I've been having the itch to learn to sew, yikes!! haha..
ReplyDeleteI know right?! I'm jealous of those people who get to sit for hours and knit - I've come to the conclusion (based on my lack of skill) that it's never going to be me. Sadness....
DeleteI knit everywhere I go - it is great for all those places you have to sit and wait around - doctor's offices, restaurants waiting on friends, any line any place anywhere. This blanket is probably the easiest knitting there is - it is garter stitch. Just knit every stitch, every row. No increasing, no decreasing, not even any purling! You can do this. It is a mechanical skill, just like feeding yourself, riding a bike, walking. You get better the more you practice, just like all those skills did. It doesn't require a special talent, just practice practice practice! Oh, and knitting has nothing to do with your wrists ;-)
DeleteSeeing images such as these make me have knitting/crocheting envy as well! Good luck with the search. Maybe you could post a "knitter wanted" ad at a retirement home:-)
ReplyDeleteYou know what - I think you're on to something, that's a genius idea! lol :-)
Deletei am actually making this blanket now, although in different colors (although i love these) and with much cheaper yarn. I am not a quick knitter, but it does take practice! I am doing a post about it soon.

ps. i learned to knit not from my grandmother or mother, but from youtube! just search for crochet and knit tutorials and rewind, restart whenever you need. there are so great ones out there.
ReplyDeleteThis may be super late... but are you still looking for a knitter? Because I can definitely make that.
ReplyDeleteThanks, let me know at howlersworld@yahoo.com
Just saw your post on Pinterest and I would be happy to knit it for you if you haven't yet commissioned it. I have been knitting and crocheting for most of my life and this would be super simple and simply beautiful! Feel free to get in touch.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
