{Etsy Love - Graphic Pillows}

There's something about gorgeous and unique graphic pillows that I just love. All of the chain retail stores (the ones we all know and love so well) have great ones to choose from - but you simply can't beat purchasing something that has been handmade out of love and passion of the craft.

{Stepping onto my soapbox - via the Handmade Pledge} - The accumulating environmental effects of mass production are a major cause of global warming and the poisoning of our air, water and soil. Every item you make or purchase from a small-scale independent artist or crafter strikes a small blow to the forces of mass production. It is the result of skill and craftsmanship that is absent in the world of large-scale manufacturing. {Stepping off my soapbox}

So as a true supporter of Etsy - I urge you to check out these fab, unique, handmade pillows. All artist are listed below with a link that will take you directly to their shop. Enjoy!

{Quote Handbags}

Over the weekend I happend to stumble across Etsy seller Quote. Now if you're obsessed with handbags like me, you're sure to love Quote’s unique contemporary bags. Quote is a Bangkok-based design studio, ran by Jim and Vicki, who designs and handmakes these quality bags. My favorite is the houndstooth tote shown below (first pic on the left), which one is yours? To see more of Jim and Vicki's designs, be sure to visit their etsy sight. Fab right?

Etsy
I discovered the work of Metamorph by Sonya Coulson Rook of Raleigh, NC, a couple of years ago at the Handmade Market. As she mentions in her artist statement, she has always been fascinated by the visual changes objects undergo during the process of aging or decomposition. In her work, she is interested in exploring the relationship between organic and industrial objects, and the contrast between clean simple surfaces and heavily textured surfaces. She often incorporates various found objects and materials in her work in an effort to give a newly created object a sense of history. Her Etsy shop is full of unique and inspired pieces.  Please visit her lovely blog or her website for more!
